SUMMARY

MoveIQ is an interactive training platform for older adults that combines physical exercise and cognitive stimulation simultaneously through games controlled by body movements using computer vision and a conventional camera.

Our solution aims to promote a more active approach to aging through accessible, engaging, and adaptable exercises tailored to different physical and cognitive abilities. The games work on components such as coordination, strength, attention, memory, language, reaction time, and dual-task training.

MoveIQ can be used in different situations, including nursing homes, daycare centers, individual sessions, or group activities, promoting not only movement and cognition, but also social interaction and active participation.

PROBLEM

Population aging brings increasing challenges related to mobility loss, cognitive decline, social isolation, and reduced autonomy.

Although physical exercise and cognitive stimulation are known to play an important role in preventing these issues, many existing solutions are either not engaging enough, difficult to use, or not adapted to the real needs of older adults.

In addition, everyday activities often require physical and cognitive tasks to be performed simultaneously — something that is rarely trained in an integrated way.

MoveIQ was created to address this challenge by developing interactive exercises that stimulate both body and brain at the same time in an accessible, intuitive, and adaptable way.

SOLUTION

MoveIQ uses computer vision to transform body movements into interaction with digital games and exercises, without requiring complex controllers or invasive equipment.

Using a conventional camera, users can control the exercises with their hands, arms, or full body while performing tasks that combine physical exercise and cognitive stimulation simultaneously.

The exercises include challenges related to coordination, grip strength, attention, memory, language, reaction time, music, and dual-task training, and can be adapted to different ability levels and usage contexts.

The platform is being developed in multiple formats, including individual computer-based use, small-group sessions, and group dynamics for nursing homes and daycare centers.

The expected impact includes promoting active aging, increasing engagement and motivation, stimulating cognitive and physical abilities, encouraging social interaction, and developing more accessible technological solutions for older adults. MoveIQ aims to make technology a tool for inclusion, autonomy, and active participation in aging.
