SUMMARY

Ciência e Letras (CeL) accelerates the adoption of emerging technologies in organisations and professionals who cannot wait for the traditional academic system. Founded in 1996 and DGERT-certified, CeL designs intensive, hands-on, certified (SIGO) training in generative AI, health interoperability (HL7 FHIR), Python, and AI-assisted programming. Courses are sector-specific — built for each professional's real context — with small cohorts, 30-hour programmes, and projects applied to the learner's own work. We operate in healthcare (tens of editions, >200 real projects, partnerships with hospital networks and professional bodies), industry, tourism, and technical teams. In parallel, CeL runs an R&D line focused on technology components to improve training itself: AI agents for learner support, AI features for Moodle, and automation of training quality processes.

PROBLEM

Technology is transforming entire sectors — healthcare, industry, services — but the training system cannot keep up. Universities take years to update programmes, professional courses are generic and disconnected from real contexts, and professionals are left unable to use tools that already exist and could transform their daily work. On the training provider side, pedagogical processes remain manual: learner support does not scale, assessment is barely personalised, and quality assurance depends on intensive administrative effort. CeL solves this dual problem: it closes the gap between emerging technologies and professional skills with short, sector-specific, results-oriented training, and it develops in-house technology components — based on AI — to make training itself more scalable, personalised, and data-driven.

SOLUTION

CeL operates along two axes: specialised training and technology innovation applied to training.

In training, we design 30-hour courses with 15–30 learners per cohort, where each participant builds a project applied to their real professional context. Training is sector-specific — each course is built for a defined audience, not a generic one. We serve five verticals: healthcare (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, health IT professionals), industry (plastics, manufacturing), tourism and services, consulting and professional services, and technical teams/developers. Delivery is flexible — synchronous e-learning, in-person, or blended; open or corporate cohorts. Healthcare is our most mature vertical: >10 editions of HL7 FHIR, >10 of GenAI for physicians, >200 real projects delivered, and partnerships with hospital networks, trade unions, and professional bodies. The promise is concrete: in 30 hours, professionals leave using tools that transform their daily work.

In innovation, we pursue six R&D lines: AI teaching methodologies, sector-specific courses for new markets, AI agents for tutoring and learner support, AI features integrated into Moodle, automation of training quality processes, and applied research with international scientific publications. These components are tested in our own courses and developed in partnership with VirtualCare and PharmaDataHub.

The impact: professionals with immediately applicable skills, institutions with proven capability-building programmes, and reusable technology components with dissemination potential to other training providers.
