SUMMARY
VG CoLAB is a collaborative laboratory dedicated to energy storage innovation. We develop system-oriented technological solutions that help industry, research organisations and energy stakeholders turn scientific advances into validated products, prototypes and services. Our work spans the electrochemical energy storage value chain, from battery technologies and characterisation to modules, packs, battery management systems, power electronics and grid integration. By combining applied R&D, testing, modelling, prototyping and business support, VG CoLAB helps partners reduce technical risk, accelerate development and make better investment decisions in energy storage. Our value proposition is to bridge the gap between research and market deployment, supporting safer, more efficient and scalable storage solutions for the energy transition.
PROBLEM
The energy transition requires storage solutions that are safe, cost-effective, scalable and adapted to real operating conditions. However, many promising technologies remain trapped between laboratory results and industrial deployment. Companies often face uncertainty when selecting battery technologies, designing systems, validating performance, estimating lifetime, integrating power electronics or assessing technical and economic viability. This creates risk, delays investment and slows the adoption of clean energy solutions.
VG CoLAB addresses this gap by providing independent technical expertise, validation capabilities and system-level development support, helping partners move from concept to demonstrator and from demonstrator to market-ready solutions.
SOLUTION
VG CoLAB works as an applied innovation partner for energy storage. We combine laboratory testing, electrochemical characterisation, modelling, system design, prototyping and validation to support the development of batteries, modules, packs, battery management systems, converters and integrated storage systems.
Our teams work on technologies such as sodium-ion batteries, redox flow batteries, hybrid energy storage systems, configurable power converters and agnostic BMS solutions. We support partners in defining requirements, comparing technologies, diagnosing performance, sizing systems, reducing overdesign and validating solutions under realistic operating conditions. This system-level approach helps transform scientific results into usable technologies and industrial services.
The impact is practical: lower technical risk, faster development cycles, better investment decisions, safer systems and stronger capacity for companies to adopt and deploy energy storage.
