Given the construction sector’s significant environmental impact—accounting for a substantial proportion of greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption in buildings—the studio advocates the urgent adoption of sustainable solutions, techniques and materials. The aim is to reduce consumption, increase energy efficiency and promote healthier spaces, striking a balance between humanity, construction and nature.

SOLUTION

Neuroscience enables us to understand how the characteristics of physical spaces — such as light, sound, textures, shapes, colours and spatial organisation — influence brain function, cognitive processes and emotional responses. Through neuroarchitecture, it is possible to design environments that stimulate sensory awareness, promote well-being and optimise the use of resources, particularly energy.

Natural lighting, efficient ventilation and the correct positioning of buildings in relation to the sun help to create more comfortable, healthy and sustainable spaces, reducing dependence on non-renewable energy sources.

In this context, the Passivhaus concept is particularly relevant, as it proposes a building standard that is energy-efficient, comfortable, healthy, affordable and sustainable. Its application stems from the integration of engineering and architecture, using available resources intelligently and efficiently.
