SUMMARY

NIUM is a biotechnology company developing scalable gut-on-a-chip technology to generate the next generation of microbiome data. Our platform enables the co-culture of human intestinal cells and microorganisms in controlled, physiologically relevant conditions, creating datasets that are difficult to obtain with current laboratory models. PROBLEM

Current microbiome research models fail to accurately reproduce the complex interactions between human cells and microorganisms. Most existing systems either rely on static cultures, animal models, or isolated microbial studies, limiting the quality and predictive value of the data generated. This creates a major bottleneck for companies developing microbiome-based products in nutrition, therapeutics, and health. At the same time, advances in AI require large amounts of high-quality biological data, which remain scarce in the microbiome field.

NIUM addresses this challenge by developing scalable gut-on-a-chip technology capable of co-culturing human intestinal cells and microorganisms under physiologically relevant conditions. Our platform generates functional microbiome datasets that can accelerate discovery, improve translational relevance, and support the development of predictive microbiome AI models.

SOLUTION

NIUM develops scalable gut-on-a-chip technology designed to recreate the complex interactions between human intestinal cells and microorganisms in controlled laboratory conditions. Our microfluidic platform enables the co-culture of living human tissue and microbial communities, generating physiologically relevant microbiome data that is difficult to obtain with conventional models. By integrating automation, advanced sensing, and bioinformatics, the platform can support higher-throughput experimentation and data generation for research and product development.

This approach helps companies better understand how microbiomes influence health, nutrition, and disease, accelerating the development of new ingredients, therapeutics, and precision health solutions. In parallel, the datasets generated by the platform can support the development of predictive AI models for microbiome research, an area currently limited by the lack of high-quality functional data.
