Kerry Lindsay from Exterity: “We have been fortunate to develop successful technology however without our people we would not have been able to do this.”

At UPTEC we welcome not only the most recent startups, but also big and established companies. UPTEC is now introducing you some of our international innovation centres through the “Open Doors”. This month, we present Kerry Lindsay from Exterity with whom we talked about the culture of technology, creativity and innovation they found at UPTEC.

Exterity is a market-leading provider of IP video and digital signage technology that helps organisations to harness the power of video to engage, inform and entertain.

Why did Exterity come to Portugal?

We were looking for a new location to open our innovation centre. Apart from the UK (Headquarters), the only other team that develops new software is based in Porto.  When we researched Porto, we found that you had a good talent pool of suitable qualified engineers, alongside with a culture of technology, creativity and innovation. This has proved to be true!

What made you choose UPTEC to develop Exterity?

It has a good fit with Exterity HQ, it’s fun and flexible with a connection to education.

What do you think about Exterity’s experience in Portugal?

Overall, our experience has been positive. Our Porto team is very much integrated to our UK team and work on multiple projects together. Things are working very well.

To what do you attribute Exterity’s success?

It’s a combination of people and technology. We have been fortunate to develop successful technology, however without our people we would not have been able to do this.

If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?

In general, I would say: know what you want to do and follow your path to achieve that.
