iUP25k winners will receive incubation at UPTEC. Applications now open

The 10th edition of iUP25K, U.Porto’s business ideas competition, has 25,000 euros in prizes to give away. Applications are open until 29 April.

Do you have a connection to the University of Porto and a creative, scientific, or technological idea in its early stages? Do you need to know how to develop it? Then the answer may lie in iUP25k, the University of Porto’s business ideas competition. Once again, the competition will honour the best ideas generated within the University with more than 25,000 euros in prizes.

Organised by U. Porto Inovação, with the support of UPTEC – Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto, iUP25k aims to be a real spark for entrepreneurship and creating innovative and impactful companies. It also aims to reward U.Porto students, scientists, professors, staff or alums who, with their projects, intend to valorise the knowledge generated at the institution.

Since its creation in 2010, iUP25k has supported dozens of ideas. For this tenth edition, the competition has the support of partners Caixa Geral de Depósitos and UPTEC, and monetary prizes are reserved for the top three: 3,000 euros for the first, 2,000 euros for the second, and 1,000 euros for the third.

The top three winners will also benefit from an incubation period at UPTEC and entrepreneurship consultancy services.

Applications for iUP25k 2024 are now open and will be accepted until 29 April 2024. To participate, you must sign the declaration of commitment and submit the application form. The 12 finalist teams will be announced on 14 May. The grand final, scheduled for 24 May, will culminate in the announcement of the winners.

iUP25k: dozens of ideas supported

Launched in 2010, iUP25k quickly established itself as an instrument for raising awareness of entrepreneurship and creating new companies based on exploiting knowledge and innovation.

After seven consecutive editions, iUP25k took a break and returned in 2022. Last year’s winning team was BEAT Therapeutics, an innovative method for treating aggressive cancers. NEVADA, Regenera, BiOM and ReCup were also honoured.
