International programme opens applications for climate impact startups

Applications are now open for the Portuguese edition of ClimateLaunchpad, the world’s largest competition for green business ideas. Entrepreneurs, researchers and teams with innovative solutions to tackle climate change can apply until May 15.

Organised in Portugal by UPTEC, with the support of PRIO, Fundação Santander Portugal, MEXT and Ordem dos Engenheiros, the programme is looking for early-stage ideas that can help address climate challenges across areas such as clean energy, sustainable mobility, circular economy, sustainable construction, food and agriculture, water and natural resources, industry and decarbonisation, and digital solutions for climate.

Participants will gain access to an intensive online bootcamp, hands-on mentoring from programme partners, and tailored support to develop and pitch their projects to investors and industry experts. The top three teams from the national final will advance to the European final, while the overall winner will represent Portugal at the global final in Singapore, joining an international ecosystem of climate innovation.

ClimateLaunchpad is designed for early-stage projects — from ideas to initial prototypes — looking to turn concepts into scalable startups with global impact. Throughout the programme, participants are supported in validating their business model, refining their pitch and defining a clear growth strategy.

The national final will take place on July 8 at UPTEC Baixa, bringing together the selected teams for a live pitching session evaluated by a panel of experts. Beyond exposure and validation, this stage offers a unique opportunity to connect with an international network of innovators, mentors and potential partners.

Applications are open until May 15 and can be submitted through the programme’s official website.
