Recycle Geeks
The Recycle Geeks project is a Circular Economy initiative that started in the city of Porto, and aims to give a new life to electronic waste, through repair, resale and donation of part of the value to a social solidarity institution.The project differs from the usual solutions for electronic waste (delivery for recycling or sale on the used market), as it accepts any type of computer, even when it is broken, and donates a part of the value to charity, which is an incentive for the delivery of the goods.Since 2021, the project has processed more than 1,100kg of computers and tablets, having distributed more than €2,800 to charity.In addition to recovering damaged computers, the project will teach how to repair and improve computers by sharing tutorials on recycling and repair. The Recycle Geeks YouTube channel frequently shares repair videos, with over 200,000 views.
