UPTEC Startups Recognized by the Crédito Agrícola & FEP Geração Impacto Award

The startups Impacte and Susplus, spin-offs from the University of Porto and incubated at UPTEC – Science and Technology Park of U.Porto – were recognised by the Crédito Agrícola & FEP Geração Impacto Award, which highlights innovative solutions with a positive impact on society. The grand prize winner, Impacte, a fintech aiming to transform everyday purchases into purposeful investments, received €4,000.

Created within the Master’s in Innovation and Technological Entrepreneurship at FEUP and FEP, Impacte offers a payment platform that allows users to automatically round up their purchase amounts to the following whole number. The difference is then invested in companies and projects aligned with social and environmental values, such as sustainability and social inclusion. This approach enables anyone, regardless of investment experience, to contribute to good causes while making their daily purchases.

“Receiving the Crédito Agrícola Award is a significant recognition for the entire Impacte team,” shared Luís Lopes, who also thanked the support of the startup’s co-founders – Panajot Baka and Philip Kriekhaus – who attended the ceremony on behalf of the team.
“It’s a sign that we’re on the right path in making investment more accessible and aligned with people’s values. This award gives us visibility, strengthens our credibility, and can open doors to new partnerships, investors, and growth opportunities.”

In 2024, this U.Porto-born company was recognised as one of the ten emerging fintechs in Portugal by The Portugal Fintech Report, a report developed by Portugal Fintech with the support of KPMG Portugal. The team aims to expand its platform across the European Union, making sustainable investment accessible to as many people as possible. “We’ll keep driving finance with purpose!” concluded Luís Lopes.

Susplus receives Honorable Mention from Crédito Agrícola Award

Susplus, which also has roots in FEP and FCUP, was awarded an Honorable Mention. The startup, created by André Campos, Inês Vasconcelos Luís, and Manuel Silva, develops technological solutions for monitoring and managing companies’ climate impact. The system collects and organises sustainability-related data for the operations and products of SMEs in the fashion industry, helping them comply with the EU Directive on sustainability and ESG reporting.

This honourable mention is both symbolic and strategic. Being recognised by these two institutions as a high-potential startup that generates impact value is a dual institutional validation that confirms the work our team has been doing. It also adds an extra layer of visibility and recognition that can help expand our network of partners interested in collaborating with or investing in Susplus,” said André Campos, the startup’s CEO.
