UPTEC promotes collection of batteries and electrical equipment to help the IPO
“Everyone for IPO” campaign aims to collect at least 100 tons of waste that will convert into 32 thousand euros
UPTEC – Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto is once again associated with the “Todos com o IPO” (Everyone with IPO) campaign and is promoting, within its community, the collection of used cells, batteries and electrical equipment. The amount will later be converted into a donation that will be used to purchase medical equipment for the Instituto Português de Oncologia de Lisboa Francisco Gentil (IPO Lisboa).
The delivery point – where anyone can leave their waste – is located at UPTEC Asprela I, on Rua Alfredo Allen n455/461 Porto, until December 31, 2023, being one of the eight thousand collection points of the Rede Electrão, the main promoter of this campaign.
In 2022, the UPTEC community managed to raise 340 kg of light bulbs, batteries, small batteries, small computer and telecommunications equipment, as well as small electrical equipment. In 2020, more than 110 kg of material were collected, the value of which was converted into a donation to IPO Lisbon.
In last year’s edition, the 265 participating companies collected 156 tons of used cells, batteries and electrical equipment sent for recycling, resulting in 37 thousand euros supporting the IPO.
Promoted by Electrão – Waste Management Association, this year’s initiative aims to collect at least 100 tons of waste, which will be converted into a minimum value of 32 thousand euros.
