UPTEC has 15 vacancies for researchers with business ideas
The School of Startups for Researchers is exclusively for master’s and doctoral students at the University of Porto. Applications close on May 7.
The School of Startups for Researchers is back, this time in a programme promoted by UPTEC as part of the DEEP INVENTHEI project. The project aims to promote entrepreneurial skills that improve young entrepreneurs’ ability to structure and implement business ideas.
To this end, during the programme, participants will have the opportunity to meet CEOs of startups and established companies, who will share their experiences as global entrepreneurs. The Startup School for Researchers also includes mentoring moments with UPTEC experts and guest entrepreneurs.
The deadline for applications is 23:59 on May 7, and can be made directly through this link. The 15 chosen researchers will be announced on the 9th of the same month.
This edition starts at 11 am on 13 May with an hour-long online Kick-off and Q&A. The face-to-face workshops will take place from 3 to 7 June, from 10 am to 5.30 pm, with the final face-to-face presentation scheduled for 14 June, from 10 am to 1 pm. During the programme, which includes 36 hours of sessions, participants can work as a team on their research projects and turn them into business ideas.
If participants don’t have a research project or a team, they will be grouped together so that they can develop a potential business project. After pitch training, participants can present their solutions in front of a jury in the final session. The entire programme is spoken in English.
Participation in the Startup School for Researchers is free of charge and is aimed at master’s or doctoral researchers who want to validate the potential for their business ideas to enter the market, and is exclusive to master’s and postgraduate students at the University of Porto. Only students who participate in 80% of the sessions and submit a final report will receive a certificate of participation.
This programme is an initiative of DEEP INVENTHEI, a project of the EIT HEI initiative: Innovation Capacity Building for Higher Education, launched by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and led by EIT RawMaterials – one of the EIT’s Knowledge and Innovation Communities.
