UPTEC graduate acquired by US company reaches 40 countries
Adapttech, a graduated company of UPTEC—Science and Technology Park of University of Porto—working in the field of lower limb prostheses using Artificial Intelligence, has been bought by Amparo. Thus, the new company reaches 40 countries worldwide, with a future focus on Asia and the Middle East.
The ‘new’ Amparo will keep the same name and combine the ‘data-driven insights acquired by Adapttech’ with the American company’s physical fittings. Through Motio StepWatch, it will be possible to monitor patient activity and provide data to the clinical team, enabling better decision-making for prosthetic care.
Frederico Carpinteiro, former CEO of Adapttech and current CEO of Amparo, says that ‘this agreement opens up huge growth opportunities and allows us to reach more people faster, significantly amplifying the impact of our technologies’. He also guarantees that ‘the focus remains on internationalisation. We aim to strengthen our market presence, offering better quality products to meet users’ needs.’
The combined company will have 16 people specialising in mechanical and biomedical engineering and other areas such as operations, communication and management.
Amparo acquired Adapttech, thus achieving a presence in 40 countries worldwide.
