SaferSEA: European project seeks challenges in decarbonization, pollution, and maritime safety

SaferSea

The SaferSEA project, co-funded by the European Union and supported by UPTEC, is looking for challenges in the maritime sector to promote decarbonization, marine pollution reduction, and improved maritime safety. The Call for Challenges invites companies, port authorities, research centers, and other entities from the European Atlantic Area – Portugal, Spain, France, and Ireland – to submit their most pressing challenges by April 24, 2025.

The project aims to identify specific challenges and connect selected organizations with innovative solutions, contributing to the transformation of the sector. Participants will have access to specialized support to test and implement solutions, networking opportunities on an international scale, and pilot testing locations, allowing them to expand their network and access technological solutions tailored to their needs.

SaferSEA is a project developed by a consortium of European entities, including Technopôle Brest-Iroise (France), CEEI Bahía de Cádiz (Spain), UPTEC (Portugal), Sines Tecnopolo (Portugal), Cedre (France), and AxisBIC(Ireland), which will provide support for solution development.

The selected challenges will be showcased at the European Maritime Day, an important industry event taking place from May 21 to 23, 2025, in Cork, Ireland. Following this phase, a new call will be launched to find solutions that address the identified challenges.

Proposals for the Call for Challenges can be submitted until April 24, 2025, on the project’s official website.
