Addvolt and Everythink have a great deal in common: both are companies that took their first steps at UPTEC, with founders who have a disruptive vision and staff who are incredibly keen to do more and do it better. Addvolt conceived, designed and produced a powerbank for cars. Naturally, when it came to the design and development of the product, the choice could only be Everythink, their long-standing partners.

The connection between these two companies goes far beyond a powerbank. Everythink, a company founded in 2008, has closely followed Addvolt’s development from the very beginning. “Addvolt and Everythink have been working together since 2013, even when Addvolt was still in the planning stage.” So says Bruno Azevedo, one of the co-founders of the start-up, which took its first steps at UPTEC’s Start-up School. “Sharing visions, interests and technological contexts, as well as the physical proximity of both offices within the building, have been the driving force behind our many collaborations with Addvolt,” explains Júlio Martins, co-founder of Everythink.

Addvolt doesn’t think twice when its projects involve product design and development. As they know, lies with Everythink, not least because “the relationship of trust and our track record of working on joint projects help us to continue renewing our preference for them,” confided Bruno Azevedo, who added that “the companies’ cultures contribute immensely to creating a dynamic and a level of commitment that lead us to take on projects together with a high degree of responsibility.”

Addvolt’s powerbank is designed to charge electric and hybrid vehicles anywhere and at any time. With this product, any individual or service provider can ensure vehicles are charged without having to invest in the electrical infrastructure of fixed charging points. As for this project, both co-founders agree that it is not yet complete. Bruno Azevedo sees this powerbank as an “unfinished project with a lot of work still ahead”, whilst Júlio Martins says they are still at “half-time”, but that “the proof is already there, as demonstrated, for example, by the collaboration with GALP”.

As for the partnership with GALP — Addvolt was in the Algarve for a pilot project with GALP offering fast, free charging for any user — Bruno Azevedo has no doubt that “the demonstration and validation of this project in the UPTEC car park, together with the external communication carried out by UPTEC, gave this solution great visibility”.

Now, when companies such as Everythink and Addvolt join forces to work together, we know the result will be a robust and effective solution. The praise is mutual, as is the strong desire to continue collaborating. At Everythink, “we have great appreciation and admiration for the work Addvolt has been carrying out, and we recognise the value and quality of what they develop”.
“The potential for companies in a business park like this is immense,” as Júlio Martins acknowledges. When these entrepreneurs reflect on UPTEC’s role, the response is the same: “UPTEC plays a fundamental role in creating a vibrant atmosphere and opportunities for people from different companies to meet, talk and share their ideas”, and that UPTEC acts as a “catalyst for synergies between organisations and people, facilitating contacts and encouraging initiatives”.

Everythink has played a pivotal role as a partner to many of UPTEC’s companies. As Addvolt puts it, many other projects could say the same. Everythink — like the whole of UPTEC — now looks upon Addvolt with pride, seeing a graduate company that started out, grew and became independent.

There are so many wonderful stories to tell — and we promise to do so — about the synergies between our companies. That is what UPTEC is here for. UPTEC serves the community by introducing Bruno to Júlio and Everythink to Addvolt. So — just like a successful marriage — let no one separate what UPTEC has helped to bring together.
