STEP-UP: Startup Training and Experience Programme at UPTEC

UPTEC – Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto has just launched an internship opportunity for Master’s and PhD students in the fields of technology, science, and the cultural and creative industries to join our Business Development team at UPTEC. This internship programme aims to support the development and growth of our startups across various sectors.

Aims of the internship

The main aim of this internship programme is to provide master’s and PhD students with an opportunity to actively contribute to the development of our startup community.

Interns will work closely with our business developers and will be able to gain knowledge about various aspects of supporting startups and managing our ecosystem. The specific objectives of this internship are as follows:

• To support the selection and onboarding of new business projects to join our community;
• To help identify and monitor the startups in our community across different sectors, tracking their progress, milestones and challenges;
• To support startups in the process of: obtaining startup status, recognition of R&D activities, startup incentives (vouchers) and monitoring the progress of applications;
• To analyse data relating to startup performance, industry trends and market research in technology, science and the cultural and creative industries, and to present the findings to the team;
• Collaborate with our team to identify opportunities for partnerships, funding and resources for startups across various sectors and assist in the implementation of business development strategies;
• Assist in the organisation and coordination of events, workshops and networking sessions tailored to the specific needs of start-ups. This includes: events with investors and large companies, as well as networking events for our community.
  

Duration: 6 to 12 months

Requirements

To be eligible for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

• Be currently enrolled on a master’s or PhD programme in a relevant field, such as technology, science, the cultural and creative industries or related disciplines.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to carry out in-depth research in your respective field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in [PT/EN].
• Passionate about entrepreneurship, start-ups and business development for innovative projects in technology, science, and the creative and cultural industries.
• Self-motivated, proactive and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
