GOTECH Antimicrobial is a MedTech startup focused on developing innovative antimicrobial solutions to fight medical device infections. Our flagship product, the GOcap®, is the first graphene-based, light-activated cap for catheter disinfection. GOcap® addresses the global challenges of catheter-related infections – especially in hemodialysis patients – and antimicrobial resistance. This reusable cap provides long-term antimicrobial protection without antibiotics, making it both cost-effective and environmentally sustainable. Its use enhances patients’ quality of life by reducing infection risks and related complications, leading to fewer hospitalizations and better clinical outcomes. It also lowers healthcare costs by minimizing antibiotic use, additional treatments, and extended care. The reusable design reduces single-use plastic waste, supporting greener medical practices. GOcap® integrates a light-activation system directly within the cap, eliminating the need for external devices. It is compatible with various catheter types, including chemotherapy, and other infection-prone medical devices, suitable for use in both home and clinical settings. GOcap® represents a key application of GOTECH’s proprietary technology (patent WO 2022184670 A3), which leverages the near-infrared responsiveness of graphene-based materials. The patent is in national phases and already granted in Chile.
