CEO of UPTEC startup teaches in the largest artificial intelligence programme ever

In celebration of the start of the AI Skills Fest on 8 April, the date on which Microsoft celebrated its 50th anniversary, the Guinness World Record was broken for the largest online artificial intelligence class in 24 hours. Kelwin Fernandes, CEO of NILG.AI, a company incubated at UPTEC – Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto, contributed to this achievement.

To ensure training on a variety of topics, Microsoft used its ‘Learn With Creators’ platform, which brings together specialists in various areas of artificial intelligence, including Kelwin Fernandes’ company, which trained managers from participating companies to solve problems with AI.

Microsoft’s goal was ‘simple’: for 24 hours, to have more than 50,000 people learning artificial intelligence around the world. And if the goal was to have more than 50,000 participants, that number was far exceeded, reaching 126,151 trainees.

For Kelwin Fernandes, taking part in this programme has provided companies with the resilience they need to face the challenges posed by the digital world. “As more companies enter the market with less technological maturity and less in-house knowledge, we need to lay the foundations as AI becomes more democratised”, says the CEO.

The AI Skills Fest will last 50 days, running until 28 May, and is seen as a way of unlocking the future with AI discovery and learning.
