UPTEC Startup launches children’s series on RTP

With seven 13-minute episodes, the series tells the story of Pandora and her friends André, Kid and Ana, who fight for their freedom in a city where children must remain locked in their rooms, connected to screens whose programming is managed by a controlling maniacal clown. With each episode, the young heroes escape the tyranny of the screens and discover a new universe, free from the adult logic of the city, where they can unleash their creativity and learn new ways of experiencing the world.

Jorge Ribeiro, founder of the production company, is one of the directors of the series, with the Os Filmes do Pinguim team involved in all the storyboarding, animatic, animation and post-production. In addition, together with Flávio Medeiros, they were also responsible for creating the music for the series, which Jorge Ribeiro highlights as one of the fundamental elements of the story: “throughout the series, there are several musical moments whose genesis was born from our passion for music and the dream of making a musical. The songs add rhythm and fun to the series, while also revealing what’s going on in the characters’ heads”.

Throughout the episodes, the series aims to explore children’s relationship with screens and the virtual world, offering a reflection on their impact on today’s society. “More than a form of entertainment, this series serves as an effective means of communication, promoting debate and critical reflection, presenting a diverse and complex set of characters with a strong female protagonist and multifaceted villains”, adds Nuno Amorim, the series’ creator.
