UPTEC promotes international training in the creative industries

UPTEC – Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto, together with FAUP – Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto and three other European partners, has just launched the European Specialisation Course PICC – Project Innovation and Cultural Creativity. The aim of this training is to combine knowledge in architecture, economics, design, marketing and digital technologies into a single programme, promoting creativity and environmental and cultural sustainability.

PICC aims to equip not only European university students in the fields of management, arts and architecture, but also established professionals in the creative fields, community leaders, urban planners and cultural managers with the ability to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to local and global challenges in the Cultural and Creative Industries, which are continually changing due to factors such as digitalisation and the preservation of cultural heritage.

Over the course of six months, students will be able to choose from 10 course units whose subjects range from art and design management to business studies, creative technologies and cultural strategy. In addition, they will have to develop an innovative project with an impact on their local communities.

The course will be taught online, in a partnership between FAUP and XAMK – South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences but will also include practical sessions with experts and face-to-face workshops. PICC takes place as part of the European CROP project, funded in 400.000 euros by the ERASMUS+ programme, with five partners from three countries (Portugal, Finland and Italy).

Information on the full training programme is available on the project website. Registration is currently underway and can be done via this link, with the programme scheduled to start in spring 2025. An official kick-off session for CROP will also be organised on 18 December, in an online format.
