UPTEC joins the Cultural and Creative Industries Cluster Association
UPTEC – Science and Technology Park of U.Porto is one of the founding organisations of the Cultural and Creative Industries Cluster Association, created by AEP – Associação Empresarial de Portugal.
The Cultural and Creative Industries Cluster Association has already brought together 109 organisations, including associations, companies, foundations and Portuguese municipalities. Through partnerships and networking between companies, public bodies, academia and civil society, the association aims to support the creation, production and distribution of more creative, distinctive and disruptive products and services, with the aim of achieving higher levels of competitive capacity and fostering sustainable growth in the sector.
In addition to UPTEC, organisations such as the Serralves Foundation, Livraria Lello, Mota Engil, Alma Design and AGEAS Portugal are part of the Association.
“UPTEC’s integration into the Cultural and Creative Industries Cluster Association is a reflection of our commitment to ensuring that creativity and innovation continue to contribute to economic and social development,” emphasises Maria Oliveira, UPTEC’s executive director. “Over the years, we have supported countless creative and entrepreneurial projects that seek to go beyond the limits of the conventional. (…) This association allows us to strengthen our network of partnerships and expand the impact of our projects, ensuring that we continue to be a centre of excellence for the cultural and creative industries in Portugal and beyond.”
Since 2023, UPTEC has also been part of the Innovation by Creative Economy (ICE) consortium, chosen by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) to create the first Knowledge and Innovation Community dedicated to the Cultural and Creative Industries – EIT Culture and Creativity. This project, with a budget of over 300 million euros, brings together more than 50 partners from 20 countries, including universities, companies and associations, to boost the competitiveness of the cultural and creative industries as a driver of green, digital and social innovation in Europe.
