UPTEC and Fundão Municipality sign protocol to promote innovation in the region

UPTEC — Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto and the Municipality of Fundão have signed a collaboration agreement to promote support for investment, entrepreneurship, job creation, and innovation initiatives developed within the scope of the Incubadora Urbana Polinucleada de Empresas e Negócios do Fundão (IUPEN).

UPTEC’s primary mission is to promote the creation and development of business projects in the arts, sciences and technologies. The partnership with the Fundão City Council will strengthen the services available to startups integrated at IUPEN and boost the creation and growth of new business ideas.

“The Municipality of Fundão has invested in an integrated and differentiating approach to attracting investment and fostering innovation, and it is a privilege for us to be the partner chosen to support this region’s ecosystem,” says Maria Oliveira, UPTEC’s Business Director.

The Incubadora Urbana Polinucleada de Empresas e Negócios do Fundão already has a long track record of supporting startup growth by creating entities such as the Fundão Business and Services Center, A Praça incubator, Fab Lab Aldeias do Xisto, Cowork Fundão, Design Factory, and the Agrotech IoT Center.

With the signing of this protocol, UPTEC becomes yet another entity to support the growth and development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Fundão region.
