UPTEC hosts free sessions to boost SMEs’ cyber resilience

The University of Porto’s Cybersecurity and Privacy Competence Centre (C3P), as part of its participation in the C-HUB – Cybersecurity Digital Innovation Hub project, is organizing a free session at UPTEC on October 18 to boost the cyber resilience of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and Public Administration.

The initiative, which also includes an event on October 17 at the Lionesa Business Hub, aims to create synergies, boost these entities’ acceleration and digital transformation, and promote their cyber resilience.

Luís Antunes and Rolando Martins (C3P), António Costa (National Cybersecurity Center), António Pinto (Instituto Politécnico do Porto), Luís Valente (Head of Information Audit & Cybersecurity at SONAE) and Luís Maia (CTO at Adyta) are some of the guests at the sessions, which will take place in Porto, at the Lionesa Business Hub, on October 17 and at UPTEC, on October 18. In addition to expert advice, the programme of the sessions includes a general presentation of the C-HUB and support for companies to assess their digital maturity (EU Digital Maturity Assessment).

The experts warn of the current use by municipalities and SMEs of various applications and systems that have been developed and implemented without security issues having been appropriately considered. Given this context, Rolando Martins, lecturer at the University of Porto and C3P researcher, highlights the role of these C-HUB sessions in building capacity and understanding the benefits of developing, testing and experimenting with advanced digital technologies.

Lisbon will host the C-HUB sessions from November 25 to 27. Ben Shariati, director of the Cybersecurity Graduate Program at the University of Maryland, USA, will join the abovementioned speakers.

Participation in the sessions is free, but registration is required.

C-HUB with cyber resilience on the radar

PT); PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and StartUp Leiria.

Its mission is “to respond to the needs of SMEs and the Public Administration regarding cybersecurity in their digital transformation processes.” C-HUB is national in scope, cutting across various sectors. The multidisciplinary nature of its members and its network allows it to seek answers to local, regional, national, or even international needs, crossing the various sectors of the economy and society.
