Postgraduate course in Interaction Design, Web and Games open for applications until 31 August
Technological innovation, health, inclusive education and the empowerment of the elderly were some of the themes of the projects presented at the closing event of the latest edition of the Postgraduate Programme in Interaction Design, Web and Games. The next edition of this FBAUP course, organised in partnership with UPTEC and FEUP, is accepting applications until 31 August.
The Specialisation Course in Interaction Design, Web and Games aims to develop skills and solid training in design for interactive media (including the web) and video games, and in human-centred design methodologies.
For the S4NG – Skills for a Next Generation project, the students created a digital platform for sharing experiences and educational content, some gamified. This project aims to promote actions centred on recognising and valuing differences and promoting justice and equity in access to knowledge, learning and research.
Developed in collaboration with the HEI-Lab research unit, the VR Druid project involved the creation of a prototype game aimed at therapists and health professionals, focussed on intellectual disabilities.
Space Escape, also from HEI-Lab, sought to inspire young women between the ages of 12 and 16 to cultivate an interest in STEM areas (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). The project developed an Escape Game, where players helped solve problems on a space mission, integrating puzzles related to different STEM areas.
For the 4HUMANZ – SMARTageCARE project, which aims to promote healthy and active ageing in Europe, a digital platform and an educational kit were developed to empower older people for the digital transition, with an emphasis on e-health and European citizenship.
Finally, Supermarket is a 3D shopping simulator for tablets, designed for adults (18 and over) with an average intellectual deficit, whose aim is to train the players’ memory, guiding them through a realistic and educational shopping experience.
In addition to the structural concepts of interaction and game design, the course will study and implement design methodologies for the various project phases, develop documentation for team communication and implement different prototyping and evaluation processes. Applications are open until 31 August and must be submitted through the portal of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto.
