Forbes chooses UPTEC entrepreneur as one of Europe’s 30 most promising talents
HelpMeChoose co-founder Pedro Braz has been singled out by the prestigious publication for his future in finance
Pedro Braz, co-founder of HelpMeChoose, is among the 30 best European talents aged 30 and under. The selection was made by Forbes magazine, which honoured the Portuguese entrepreneur in the finance category.
Incubated at UPTEC – Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto, HelpMeChoose develops digital products with the aim of analysing financial services and assets at an international level, such as stockbrokers, digital banks, and ETFs, among others.
HelpMeChoose was co-founded with Franklin Carneiro da Silva and already has companies such as Saxo Bank, Wise, and Interactive Brokers on its client list. Since its launch in 2021, it has surpassed the one million user mark worldwide.
The entrepreneur from Peso da Régua graduated in Economics from the School of Economics and Management of the University of Porto (FEP), where he took a degree in Economics, followed by a Fintech programme at the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford in England.
For Pedro Braz, this honour is another step of constant reinvention. “Being distinguished by Forbes is an honour. As a startup, we always have to reinvent ourselves and find ways to grow. We’re rethinking one of our biggest products, and we’ll launch an improved version soon! We’re still figuring out our path, but the overall goal is to help people make better financial decisions and to become a reference for those who want to compare financial services internationally.”
This isn’t the first time UPTEC entrepreneurs have been honoured on the prestigious international magazine’s shortlist. In 2021, Carlos Lei, FCUP alumnus and co-founder of HypeLabs, and Frederico Carpinteiro, FEUP alum and CEO and founder of Adapttech, were recognised by Forbes.
Last year, Bruno Azevedo and Rodrigo Pires, FEUP alums and founders of Addvolt – a U.Porto spin-off and UPTEC graduate – and António Rocha, Gilberto Loureiro and Paulo Ribeiro, FCUP alums and founders of Smartex – a U.Porto spin-off and UPTEC incubator – made the list. The previous year, Tiago Sá, FEUP alumnus and one of the founders of Wisecrop – a company incubated at UPTEC – was elected in the social entrepreneurs category.
In 2017, it was the turn of Miguel Santo, founder of Uniplaces, a UPTEC graduate company, to join the list in the technology section. This year’s list includes the names of two other Portuguese people, Pedro Gomes, founder of WalletConnect, and Martim Perestrelo, co-founder of Tether.
