UPTEC and the António Pargana Foundation launch a free programme to turn students into entrepreneurs

The António Pargana Foundation, in partnership with UPTEC – Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto, has just opened applications for the latest edition of the School of Startups for Students: a free programme that aims to bring students from the diaspora closer to the world of entrepreneurship.

Over four days, students of Portuguese descent from all levels of study, universities and polytechnic institutes will have the opportunity to develop skills for the ideation, validation and communication of entrepreneurial projects, gaining a unique insight into the national entrepreneurial ecosystem.

To participate in the programme, young people do not need to have a business idea, just demonstrate an interest in entrepreneurship. Through workshops, corporate visits to large companies, conversations with Portuguese entrepreneurs and training activities, the selected young people will understand the economic, industrial and innovation context of the Northern region.

The first ten applicants will be eligible to receive a free ticket to Web Summit, the world’s largest technology event, which takes place in Lisbon from 10 to 13 November.

Applications are open until 16 November and can be made through the official website of the School of Startups, where more information about the initiative is available. The programme will be conducted in Portuguese and participation is free of charge. In its first edition, the School of Startups powered by António Pargana had 18 participants of four nationalities.

With the aim of promoting knowledge of Portugal’s history, culture and scientific and technological capabilities, the António Pargana Foundation strengthens the connection between the diaspora and their descendants to Portugal. UPTEC has supported more than 740 business projects in the arts, sciences and technologies since its creation in 2007.
