JUMP: Municipality of Famalicão and UPTEC seek business ideas for the green and digital transition
The programme will award 9000 euros in prize money to the best solutions
Applications are now open for the JUMP – Competition for New Businesses, promoted by the Municipality of Famalicão in partnership with UPTEC – Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto. The programme is aimed at entrepreneurs with business projects geared towards the green and digital transition and will award 9,000 euros in prize money.
JUMP is open to projects that solve challenges, explore opportunities or fulfil green and digital transition needs. This category includes digitalisation and innovation solutions, including implementing digital technologies and innovative solutions that facilitate and optimise operations, customer experience or business management.
During the programme, participants can attend workshops to explore tools and methods for structuring the presentation of their business ideas, develop body language skills, and learn public presentation techniques. In addition, the entrepreneurs will be trained in how to attract the target audience and keep the digital audience loyal.
The initiative also includes a final event, where each team will give a five-minute presentation. The three projects with the best scores awarded by the jury will be entitled to a year’s free installation in the Famalicão Made In incubator and access to the Acceleration – Elevator programme, promoted by the Vila Nova de Famalicão Municipality.
In addition, the first place winner will receive €5,000, the second place €2,500 and the third place winner €1,500. The monetary prizes will only be awarded to the winning projects that actually set up in the Famalicão Made In incubator within a maximum of 2 months after the final event.
JUMP, an initiative promoted by Vila Nova de Famalicão City Council – through the Famalicão Made IN initiative – in partnership with UPTEC, aims to capture business ideas and promote new solutions for industry, the city and citizens, fostering an entrepreneurial culture in the municipality of Vila de Famalicão – the country’s third largest exporter – with a view to setting up new companies in the incubation centres.
