Granter wins Web Summit’s Startup Pitch

Granter, a startup incubated at UPTEC – Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto, is the big winner of the Web Summit Startup Pitch Competition. The company was chosen by the public and the expert jury in a competition that featured more than 100 startups.

Founded in 2023 by Bernardo Seixas and Bernardo Tavares, Granter created the world’s first ‘AI Grant Consultant’: an AI agent that helps companies find, write and manage applications for public funding in a simple way. By providing some information about the company, the agent can match it with the most appropriate grants and automatically check its eligibility, while also assisting in the drafting of applications and the management of approved projects.

The audience voted overwhelmingly for Granter, which won 80% of the votes, and the jury agreed, highlighting the commitment shown in the presentation, as well as the business plan and ambition to expand the platform.

In addition to the UPTEC startup, VarsityScape and SegmentStream were the two other finalists among more than 100 companies participating in the pitch competition at Web Summit, Europe’s largest technology conference, which was attended by around 2,700 companies in its 17th edition.

Granter thus becomes the third UPTEC startup to win the Startup Pitch – last year, Intuitivo won the competition thanks to João Guimarães’ pitch, joining Smartex, which won the award in 2022.
