European Commission seeks challenges in Blue Bioeconomy

The Blue Shuttle, a European project funded by the European Union, seeks challenges to accelerate digital transformation in blue bioeconomy and marine life. Applications are open until November 15, and an international pilot project will be developed to respond to each of the selected challenges.

Any company, startup, project, innovation centre, academic institution, or entity operating in the blue bioeconomy field can submit challenges. The selected projects will have the opportunity to receive tailored solutions explicitly designed to promote digital innovation and work directly with international entrepreneurs and innovators.

The challenges must be linked to harvesting, biomass production, and bioprospecting; innovation development and product differentiation (e.g., transformation technologies); green transition or digital transition; and other areas connected to the blue bioeconomy.

The pilot projects—which will later respond to each of the selected ideas—will address the digital and technological requirements of these challenges to develop an innovative proof of concept, thus promoting the competitiveness and resilience of the Blue Bioeconomy sector.

The Blue Shuttle project, developed by the European Commission, aims to identify the main digital and technological challenges in the blue bioeconomy. Its first call for applications is open until November 15.
