FCT organises workshop on the AI Factory at UPTEC

Evento Bridging da UPTEC, com apresentação da NOS.

On 14 July, from 2.00 pm, UPTEC – Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto will host the workshop “BSC AI Factory: AI and Supercomputing in the Service of Innovation”, an initiative managed by the National Centre for Advanced Computing (CNCA) and the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises, start-ups, researchers and technology professionals who wish to explore the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) supported by advanced computing infrastructures.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the BSC AI Factory, a European initiative that provides access to high-performance computing resources, specialist knowledge and state-of-the-art infrastructure to accelerate the development of AI solutions. The workshop will also highlight the opportunities offered by national and European advanced computing resources, including the Deucalion and MareNostrum 5 supercomputers, as well as the vision for the new national data centre.

The event, taking place in the auditorium of UPTEC’s Asprela I hub, will also include a demonstration of the Deucalion supercomputer, allowing participants to gain a first-hand understanding of how it works and its capabilities, as well as presentations of use cases by companies that are already using advanced computing to develop innovative products and services. Among the featured examples are Infinite Foundry and PPA-LeaderTek, startups incubated at UPTEC, which will share their experience of using these technologies to drive innovation and competitiveness.

Participation is free of charge, subject to prior registration. In addition to the technical sessions, the event aims to promote knowledge-sharing and the forging of new links between businesses, academia and organisations within the innovation ecosystem, concluding with a networking session for participants.
