ADECI considered one of Portugal’s most promising startups

ADECI, a startup incubated at UPTEC – Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto, is featured in an article published by EU-Startups, the largest online magazine about the startup ecosystem in Europe, which selected the 10 most innovative business projects in Portugal.

Founded in 2023 by Telmo Taipa and Helder Pereira, ADECI has developed an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based forecasting platform for the restaurant industry. The solution predicts sales, customer volumes, product demand, ingredient consumption, and staffing needs with an accuracy rate of over 92% by combining historical data with external factors that can influence daily business activity.

Designed for operators with multiple locations and brands, ADECI’s technology integrates with existing management and POS systems to support cost reduction, waste minimization, and more structured operational decision-making.

In 2025, the company raised €500,000 to support its development from Portugal Ventures, in addition to officially entering the Spanish market. In the future, the startup intends to expand its operations beyond catering, with applications in retail and supply chain management, and reach 25,000 establishments in various European markets, while simultaneously evolving its technology and increasing the detail in its forecasts, with new features such as dynamic pricing and personalized product recommendations.

In addition to ADECI, the online magazine article highlights ChainReactor, a company that in 2024 won third place in the national final of ClimateLaunchpad, the world’s largest cleantech ideas competition. The startup uses renewable energy to power modular 3D printers that use biomaterials or recycled plastic filaments to print customizable, affordable, high-quality bioreactors.

These projects from the UPTEC community are joined by BM2Solar,  BloodFlow, DOJO AI, Jsonify, Litehaus, Manie and NextBorder, the other startups mentioned in the article.
